I have a HP Pavilion dv7 laptop which is five years old pre-installed with w7 home. I made repair and recovery disks when new, however the product key has worn off the sticker on the bottom of the laptop. The hard disk has died and I need to either reinstall from recovery disk or do a clean install to the new drive. Is it possible with the disks I have?

The HP disks most likely have the key embedded and will just activate it as the machine is the same hardware minus hdd. It's like 6-7 disks right, it should boot a thing asking you to go to factory image or clean one and put the key in both.
