Hello, I am new to these forums and have been having this persistent issue. Sorry if this is in the wrong section or if I need to do something else for everyone to help me with this issue.

My laptop is an HP m6-1045dx, which I have had for almost a year. I have had no connectivity problems while connected to the internet through wifi (including my current connection at home) until a few days ago.

Randomly, (it could be after being connected for a few minutes or a few hours), I will receive the limited access error (hazard system next to the wifi bars in the system tray). After troubleshooting, windows will disable and attempt to re-enable my network adapter, resulting in my network adapter not working properly. If I attempt to manually enable the network adapter, my computer will keep loading with nothing happening. Troubleshooting again results in the computer telling me "the default gateway is not available."

When I attempt to shut down or restart my computer, my computer will struggle to do so for about 10-15 minutes until the BSOD results saying "Driver State Power Failure." After being forced to manually turn off my computer and restarting, my computer will turn on still not connected to the internet. Troubleshooting results in Windows recommending a plug in an Ethernet cable. I click "skip this step" and then it notifies me that my network adapter is not enabled, and after completing that, my internet connection is fine, for a limited time, and the problem repeats.

As repairs, I have attempted updating and rolling back the drivers, downloading the latest ones from Intel's website, making sure that my network adapter is set to "maximum performance" when running off of battery power, removing Symantic Endpoint Protection (since someone with the exact same issues as me had this antivirus and allegedly solved the problem by removing it and installing Security Essentials), and installed Security Essentials while running a full scan.

My wireless network adapter is an Intel Centrino n-2230. If there are any other details or error messages I need to provide, please inform me of what they are and how I may retrieve this information.

Thank you

Under "Network adapters" (if this is what you are referring to), in device manager, there are no x's. However, I am currently connected to the internet. When I HAVE NOT been connected, there are no x's under network adapters either, but when i go to the properties for my intel adapter, it says that no drivers are installed, and attempting to disable or enable the adapter from device manager results in long load times that amount to nothing.

I've just installed those drivers and haven't had any issues so far. However, in the tray, the internet connection icon is of a monitor with an ethernet cable next to it (indicating that I am connected through a wired connection), though all other components of the network and sharing center indicate that I am connected wirelessly, which I am.

Also, my connection lasted about 2 hours last night, so I will have to wait it out to see if the issue is truly solved.

Okay, the issues are continuing. I also know it is not due to anything dealing with power consumption, as this has happened when my battery is close to dying and when I have a full charge and am plugged in. Sometimes this has happened immediately ahfter turning my computer on and logging in.

Additionally, sometimes I won't have any issues for a while, will put my laptop to sleep, and upon going on again, I will have issues as my computer doesn't even recognize my wireless adapter. It won't exist under device manager and windows makes no attempts at setting up a wireless connection upon troubleshooting.

Anyone?? Is there some reason I'm being ignored? Could someone at least inform me so that I can at least know how to properly post a question asking for help on this forum?

Do you have Internet when you plug the Ethernet cable in the laptop ?

Lets see something

Click on :orb: click on Control Panel and then click on Network and Sharing Center.

On the left hand side click Change Adapter Settings

Locate your Wireless Network Connection and Right Click on it and choose Properties.

In Properties, click on the Configure button

Click on the Power Management tab

Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power box. Click OK.

Apparently this problem continues when I have a wired connection as well, don't know why I haven't tried this.

When I had the limited access error, I connected directly to my router with an ethernet cable and the network and sharing center just said "Identifying..." and nothing would work.

Everything went well once I restarted my computer (of course, the wireless will then work once I restart my computer as well)

Update: After restarting my computer, I have had the issue again almost immediately, but upon manually disconnecting from my home network, I was instantly connected to it via a wired connection. I have tried alternating between a wired and wireless connection, but it appears that everything is fine when I am connected with an Ethernet cable.

Additionally, as I have said, I already unchecked that box to ensure the device would not be turned off to save power.

What I also found interesting is that after clicking on the configure button in the adapter's properties, the power management tab doesn't exist when I am having the connectivity issue. However, when connected, it is there.

Both. This occurs whether I'm running off the power adapter or the battery, and also regardless of how much battery power there is.

Any other suggestions?

Btw, I contacted HP, they recommended another set of drivers, and to manually disconnect my wireless adapter card and reconnect it by hand. Next, I did a system restore back to factory settings, and the problem persists.

Does this indicate a hardware issue and the necessity of the wireless card being replaced?

If that doesn't help then you would need to replace it .

So with all issues, if a complete system restore doesn't fix a problem, then it must be hardware related?

Am I understanding this correctly?

Could be . If updating the drivers didn't fix the issue and a factory restore didn't fix it . Its the hardware .
