The Default Gateway is not Available

Since September last year, six times my internet connection fails and this is not the router / broadband connection.

The same pattern occurs, lose internet connection, open Network and Sharing Centre, run Troubleshooter. Fortunately it fixes the problem but the message is always the same: "The Default Gateway is not Available" and the fix is "Reset the Local Area Connection Adapter". It then connects again and no problem until another month when the same thing happens. I am not noticing any particular pattern of activity before this happens.

At this point, because this is intermittent and always fixed, I am looking for a light touch rather than a heavy handed approach such as diving into the registry. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

hi,

windows has allways had an issue with networks, my mrs had the same problem not seen it for a while.

anyway quicker fix, keep it on your desktop

echo off
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Copy the code above in the Notepad and save it with the .bat extension.
- Run the .bat file with double click.
- In the some cases, the .bat file needs to run with administrator's privileges. Right-click on the .bat file and choose "Run as administrator".

Hi

My computer knowledge is pretty average.

There isn't anything I can see on that 'echo' link. I was able to flush the dns successfully, the other two couldn't be performed on the bluetooth (probably because I don't use bluetooth, i suspect it is switched off).

What is the code you refer to to copy?

Is it possible that flushing the dns may solve it on its own?

Ipconfig /all

Thank you. The "/all" command went through OK. I will keep an eye on things and see if it happens again. Thank you for your help.

Hi

Apologies, I thought the 'all' prompt was a fix. I've attached the information in a word document.

Having had a little time off from work over the weekend, I've looked into this a little more. It seems that this issue is nothing to do my with trusty laptop and everything to do with my Plusnet Hub One Router. Looking at the results from the ipconfig I noticed that the Lease Obtained and Lease Expires dates were a day apart and looking back at the other screenshots I'd taken, could see the same pattern. I have gone into the advanced settings of my router and set the lease date to the maximum setting of 21 days.

So whilst this explains what's been going on, I don't understand why this has been happening over the last six months when I have had the Router since January 2018. Is this a new protocol from Plusnet? Anyone else have a Plusnet Hub One Router who's had the same issue?
