default printer not first in print dialog box

Windows 7 pro, print dialog box shows default printer as last choice. How get it to the top so don't have to scroll down before click? Sometimes it will show up first if chosen just a while before, but not often.

if its the default printer it will already be selected and not need to be clicked on ?? or am I not understanding your issue correctly
I don't know of any way to alter this list other than possibly uninstalling and reinstalling printers but even then it may well go back to how it is, mine appear to be listed alphabetically

Is this problem in all programs or a particular one? Some programs you have to set the default in the program options.

From what I see it seems the list is always ordered by name.

You can rename the printer so it's first in the list.
- Open Devices and Printers
- Right click on the default printer
- Click Printer properties
- Click on Change Properties
- Change the name on the General Tab so it sorts first

If it's a Shared printer, I got this warning renaming it.
I didn't want to break all my connections, so I renamed another printer...

My printer list also shows the default printer as being down a bit on the list. I don't worry about it since all I have to do is just click Print without selecting anything and it will be the one that prints. The only time I select a printer is if I want to use a virtual printer to create a quickie PDF instead of a hard copy.
