Solved default programs

how do i get a program into this list?

my specific problem is with chromeplus, my (slightly unusual) browser of choice.

i can associate it fine with htm and html files, but it's not working when i click on links in my windows live mail for example.

it used to work, but hasn't since the last update.

(atm, ie8 has the 'url' association, but it's greyed out, so i can't change it - but also doesn't work with links in windows live mail.)

Can you right click on WindowsLiveMail and choose "always open with"?

my main problem is with links in an email, or in help files etc.

my windows live mail context menu is as below.

if i click on a link, i get the error message.

at the moment, i'm having to right-click, copy shortcut, then paste it into my browser - i just want to click and go!

is it to do with url associations?

Mickey, if I have understood you correctly, this should bring your browser to that list of default programs. Just choose the browser from this list:

well it's in the registry, but not on the list...nor are a couple of other progs.

*edit* it's also present and correct in HKLM\software\wow6432node\registeredapplications

but i still get error messages when clicking on links in an email or helpfile.

i know it's an unusual browser, but setting file associations should be really simple, especially for a 'guru' :huh:

maybe it's not the url association that i need, but another file type to get these email links opening in my browser?

yay, i fixed it! i do deserve my guru badge after all

HKCU\software\classes\chromeplushtml\shell\open\command pointed to the old version that has since been updated...
