Partition G is empty and shows on my computer listing .. but I cannot delete it .. it doesn't show in diskmgmt. Nor in Partition magic.
I have tried many of the MS suggestions but none of them see this partition.

Windows Premium C this is OK

Backups E this has data and is OK

Backups G this is the problem partition! It ignores any attempt at deleting-renaming etc.

How big is that partition? Windows does an itty bitty sliver partition [unallocated] for its purposes.

Does G: really exist? If it shows up in Explorer, right-click on it and click properties. How big is it?

You might try booting with a Linux Live USB/CD and running gparted - I've been able to fix some pretty bad messes with it. But if it doesn't even show up in disk management... that's weird.

Post a screen shot of Windows Disk Management showing the problem.

Partition Magic is not the best tool for Windows 7. Get Partition Wizard.

But first post that picture so we can see what's going on.

All of these partitions are on the same drive?

Hi helidel,

It could be a phantom drive.

Try doing a drive cleanup and see whether it disappears.

Download v 0.8.1 of the drivecleanup.zip from Drive Tools for Windows.

Unzip it to a folder, say drivecleanup.

You will have two folders Win32 and x64 each containing DriveCleanup.exe for 32 bit and 64 bit respectively.

Remove all USB storage devices from your system (except your Keyboard and mouse) and reboot.

Right click on the DriveCleanup.exe and run as administrator. (Use the DriveCleanup.exe file appropriate for your bit version of Windows.).

After the clean up act, reboot and check whether your system is still showing G drive in my "Computer"

This procedure will delete all non-present devices and drive letters associated with those from Windows' memory.

Ghost partition G

When this problem occurred Win Explorer also became faulty On restart this cleared but the partition was still
a problem .. But after a few attempts .. shutting off - restarting - etc. Explorer worked OK and the partition also was visible and accessible!! Don't know why .. but have had this Explorer problem before, but it cleared after a re-start.
