I installed windows 7 on my secondary storage HDD since my raptor died. Now I have a new raptor and freshly installed windows 7 back onto it. But how do I delete the old windows 7 from the secondary storage without reformatting the disk.

Every time I try to just select all the windows files in that drive and delelte it, I get the error msg

"You need permission to perform this action.

You require permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this folder"

How to I bypass this?

Run as Administrator and see if that works. IMO

Hello shadow85, welcome to Seven Forums!

By way of explanation, more than likely the boot files are on the "other" Windows 7 and it won't let you delete them, do as suggested and supply a snip/screen shot of disk management and someone will help you further.

What do you mean you want to "delete" win7 from the secondary? If you intend to install another OS on it, its probably best to format and clean install. If you intend to only store media, again best to format it.

Hi, I have posted a screen shot of disk management. I hope this is what you asked for.

DMSD.jpg

So as you can see from the img, disk 1 (C:) drive is my raptor drive that I use for programs/games/windows7. And disk 0 (D:) drive I use for all other files, media, work documents etc. But disk 0 still has these folders from the Windows 7 that was installed on it from before: Program Files, Program Files (x86), ProgramData and Windows. I want to remove these folders but cannot as I recieve that error message I stated before. BTW I already am the adminstrator.

You may need to copy boot files from old drive to your Win7 drive, before deleting the old drive.

Check to see there those files are.

But when I start my computer up it automatically selects my raptor drive to load the windows 7 from. It does not give me an option to chose which drive to load windows 7 from. I think that maybe because I have already deleted lots of windows 7 files from the old HD already, there are just those few folders/files left that I cannot delete.

Once I selected to show operating system files in folder options, I could see a list of new O/S files in the old drive, but again it would not let me delete them saying I need permission from the Adminstrator, which is really frustrating me because I am the administrator and there are no other user accounts on my computer.

If i m correct, you want New Windows 7 OS running on your system instead of old Windows 7.

If this is question, then you have to follow these steps:
1) Got to computer properties.
2) Select Advance Tab
3) Select Start & Recovery Settings
4) Default OS, you can Choose here.
