Deleting Search Results

Hello, I'm racking my brains trying to figure this out. We have a spam filter dump spam into a folder so we can check for false positives. Within this spam folder we search different terms that we know we can immediately delete. In XP, for instance, I could search on "viagra", have the results show in the right hand pane, select them all and delete them. In Vista and Windows 7, I can perform the same search, but when I select all and press delete, nothing happens. In fact when I just highlight a single file and press delete nothing happens. I can save the search so that I can filter the results faster, but I want to delete the search results. Is there a way?

If your talking about the recently used searches from within Windows Explorer then you can clear them via the (1)registry or cleaning application such as CCleaner.

(1)The searches are stored in:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\WordWheelQuery

No that's not what I mean. It's hard to explain because you're thinking about something different. In XP, in any folder, if you search on a term, you get results in the right hand pane. Once the results are there you are able to select them all and move them, copy them, delete them etc.
Now in Vista and 7, if you open a folder, perform a search on a term, and view the results in the window, you can only copy them or send them to the desktop, etc. You are unable to delete them. That is the key. I want to search on, let's say "*.tmp" in a folder. I can perform that search and get results, but I cannot delete those results as a group. Now, I can highlight each one, right click it, and select "Open File Location" and delete it that way, but that is only one at a time. I want to select batches of files (in this case emails) and delete them as a group, and I cannot.
I hope this explains a little better what I am trying to do.

Thats odd. I can select a few or all items and hit the delete key. When I right click on any files found in a search I have the same context menu I would any place in in Explorer.

Im running an admin account with UAC disabled (at the moment). Is the files/folder your working with a common folder? Such as a Windows temp folder, browser cache, history etc? Or would it folders belonging to specific programs?

As a test if you create a new folder (dosent matter where) and add some new text files to it, can you search and delete those files?

OK. Interesting revelation. Remember I was talking about email files (.eml). Well it turns out that for some reason I cannot delete them by treating them as a regular file. I have to use an emailprogram to perform deletions. In XP I could treat them as regular files and either open them with Outlook Express or delete them by searching keywords. In Vista/7 I cannot.
I have added regular text document files to my spam folder and named them 1.tmp, 2.tmp, and 3.tmp. When I search *.tmp in that folder I get three hits and I am able to delete them.
Weird behavior
If anyone can help with a workaround it would be greatly appreciated.

OK - this is actually a new problem that showed up in my Windows 7. Email client is Windows Live Mail. All of a sudden, I cannot delete any files with .eml on them. A delete of any kind does NOTHING.

The only way I can delete them is to open properties, select "details", select "remove properties and personal information", and then hit OK.

The good thing is that I can do it for a whole batch of files, so it is not an impossible situation. The crazy thing is that this was working fine, until they fixed the problem with the timestamps on saved emails, .eml files, being updated all the time by Windows Live Mail. I think Windows Live Mail is saving something in the properties of these files that they cannot be deleted - or modified by anyone except Live Mail.

HELP.
