Solved Dell Dimension 2400 - Resolution Problems

The problem with Dell Computer Corporation Dimension 2400 graphics and Windows 7 can be solved. I'm running Win 7 and XP in duel boot.
In the Device Manager of Win 7 direct the search path to the XP [FONT=&quot]Partition and allow it to find, or using a XP machine put the XP graphics driver onto a usb stick and direct the search path to the usb stick.

Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* XP (exe)

Run the driver installer in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode (see here for how to use compatibility mode)...like I said it is a long shot but this driver is the best you are going to get for your video hardware

I used to have that same problem with my Dell Dimension 2400 ( Which i'm still using now) until i did come across on the Dell website compatible video cards for this PC. so i ended up getting the sparkle geForce 8400 GS 512MB video card and worked like a charm. running windows 7 home premium now. those months of trying to find the right drivers just took me too far lol.

Solution to Dell Dimension 3000 video drivers for Windows 7

The solution is very simple. Upon booting computer enter setup and go to bios setup. Change the setting from 1 megabyte of memory to 8 megabytes and then save and reboot. This solves the problem with no downloads or the need to upgrade or buy additional software.

I am installing Windows 7 on my parents computer. I just did a fresh install (not an upgrade) and ran into a problem.

I downloaded the drivers from the Dell website, and figured it would solve my problem of not being able to change the resolution. It didn't.

Now I am stuck. Is this computer just not able to handle Windows 7? Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm about to pull my hair out! [/QUOTE]

Thanks a gazillion, Zidane! The driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=9033&ProdId=865&lang=eng link worked like a charm on my Dimension 2400 for Win7! I just ran the exe properties compatibility as XP SP3 and Administrator and the resolution is beautiful again! woot!

I believe you all are over thinking this, I have the same exact dell, had the same problem after installing windows 7. All you have to do is:
1. Download drivers
2. After download right click on downloaded file, click on properties
3. Navigate to the tab that says "compatibility"
4. Where it says "Compatibility mode" select that box and make sure it is set to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
5. Click "OK", now proceed to install and it will work fine
*****You have to do this with all of the drivers, but it works on all of them.
