Windows will install most of the drivers. In most cases you will need to download and install the correct sound driver as Windows will only install the generic, basic function High Definition Audio Driver. Any specific Dell hardware drivers may need to be installed.

If the Latitude came with Windows 7, access the Dell downloads using the service tag number and it will list all applicable drivers, as it was originally built.

The only thing I know for sure that you will need to download AFTER the Win 7 install is the IDT sound driver.

As I noted, access the downloads using your service tag, not just the general download as you have now.

The best place to get help with this specific issue would be the Dell forums. People there with specific Dell knowledge.

In most cases you can't change the hardware/heatsink assembly on Dell's. They use proprietary parts.

I don't have a Dell anymore. I used to have a Dell desktop, bought near the end of Windows XP. I have a laptop but its a Lenovo. I don't use it for much other than on site recording (I have a recording studio). My recording studio desktop is one I built, not a factory model.

You are not going to load it with "crapware" by installing drivers, but as I've repeatedly said Windows will install most of the needed drivers. Ask on the Dell forum and they will know more.

i have it a few weeks now and tbh its great never hear the fan much at all i upgraded the ram to 8gb would love to have upgraded it to 16gb but costs a bit.im not sure having 16gb ram on my dell laptop e6430 is going to make much difference than having 8g what u think i have a 16gb sd card in the sd card slot and keeping that in threre using that as ram what u think or will that break the sd card slot by using it like that all the time.i also bought myself a dell chromebook 11 also and its great but i have put a 32gb sd card in the slot which it stayes there all the time for extra storage is it bad for my chromebook keeping it in the sd card slot all the time like that.
