I bought a Mini 10 Dell netbook during the summer. I was pretty excited to see how a netbook with comparable(sightly better) computing power to my 5 year old 700m. The size and the price were nice.

I decided to go with linux b/c I had some experience with it and was somewhat fond of linux. For freeware OS, the overall price was the same. I had a lot of issues with the touch pad and the mouse buttons. Overall performance seemed lower than it should have been. I tried different distributions, but the dell distribution was the best(mediocre). I had a lot of buyers remorse and was a little mad at Dell for selling a product that maybe wasn't ready.

I saw online that Microsoft had a student discount for Windows 7 Professional. So I got that and made the neccessary changes to upgrade.

So far, everything works great! The touch pad and buttons work perfect. It is now possible to click and drag stuff. Overall performance appears to be up as well. And it is, of course, visually pleasing. Flash video works a billion times better too.

I posted this for anyone that pondering trying Windows 7 on their mini 10, but might feel uneasy. It was definitely the best $29 I have ever spent. My machine is now everything I was expecting it to be before I bought it.:D

I'm glad that my dell mini 10 can run windows 7.

I do have some questions:

Did you have an problems installing it (on the dell mini 10)?
What was the process like?
Will everything run normal?

THANK YOU!!

I had linux on it, so I installed xp first, then windows 7.

But the process was pretty much just download and click on the file. It was a pretty fast process. It said it couldnt do an update from xp, and that i needed to do something to get my files, so i went back and checked custom and it installed just fine.

Make sure you back up your stuff and keep any serial codes you will need for installing software.

All drivers seemed operational after the install. Open Office is installed and running great. I havent run into any problems yet. This is definitely my favorite computer so far in my computing career.:D
