Dell vostro 3300 headphones problem?

Hi guys

I've a dell vostro 3300, when I plug my headphones in there's sound coming from the headphones but the sound still comes from the speakers on my laptop! Does anyone know how I could go about fixing this?

First question, do you have the Dell IDT sound driver for this model installed? Or do you have the generic basic function Windows installed "HD Audio Codec"? Check the Device Manager and it will list what you have.

If you do not have the correct Dell IDT driver, that needs to be installed, and the HD Audio Codec or whatever you have now needs to be uninstalled (first).

In device manager I've IDT HD audio codec installed.

So will I delete that and then download the one from dell website?

If you don't have the Dell supplied that is a first start. Generally the Dell works best. Non Dell supplied drivers many times will not work or work correctly.
