Denied external drive permission after factory reset

Thanks, i'll give it a shot later on tonight when I get some free time and report back.

EDIT: When trying to run any of the commands I just get the same results as http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware...ssion-after-factory-reset-10.html#post1963733 Where the name of the command prompt changes and no further writing is shown.

Mine also took a while to run on a full drive. How long did you give it to run? The first 20 seconds or so, mine did not move, and that was on a 100 GB drive. For a larger drive, I could see it taking a minute or two to start going (or longer depending on what is on there).

Seems I just didn't wait long enough, have run 3/4 commands so far and got the following back.

From having a quick look it seems photos and word documents etc that were previously inacessible now are. Will run the 4th command tomorrow and report back.

Great news! Glad we are finally on the road to getting this solved!!

Got the recycle bin error again upon start-up today about it being corrupt on E drive. Just chose the option to delete/remove or something similar.

Also ran the 4th command today and got a similar response to yesterdays 3:

Noticed today the padlocks reappeared on the initial folders on the external drive, although there is access to them and everything within them it seems. If it's not causing a problem or likely too don't see any cos for concern.

We should check the permissions on the drive, just the same. Run

icacls E:

and post a screenshot of the output.


I also found that setting the permissions through icacls got me the recycle message. Once we get everything squared away and you have chosen to empty the recycle bin a few times, the message should stop appearing.

Ah ok, it's a small price to pay for having the permissions back.

All looks good. Seems like you now have permissions setup correctly and the files still have pretty good security against outside threats.
