I have a number of network drives mapped on my Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) systems. The drives show up and work fine, but are missing the descriptive names in "My Computer". This is happening on all of my Windows 7 systems.
When I map the same set of drives on a system running Windows XP, I see the descriptions as I'd expect.
The network shares are on a number of servers, all of which are running SAMBA 3.5.6. The description is set in the SAMA configuration in the usual manner:
I asked about this on the SAMBA mailing list and didn't get any answers, so I figured I'd try here.
I am attaching screen captures from both the 7 and XP systems so you can see what I mean.
