Hi. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, and I had recently tried changing my desktop background. It isn't working at all. When I right-click a picture to make it my background, the little window pops up asking about it, but when I click okay it doesn't work. Then when I save a picture and try to make it the background through the personalization screen, it says it saved, but it doesn't change anything. I tried changing themes, but that didn't change anything either.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Have you installed any theme patchers? Universal Theme Patcher, or UXcore?

Can we get some system info? IE what version (7600?) was it DL'ed or purchased. what hardware do you have? was it an upgrade or clean install, etc.

Hello VailViex, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this just happened recently, then you might see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this problem happened may be able to fix it for you.

If not, then you might double check both of these to make sure this is not prevented or disabled.

Hope this helps,

I have already tried a system restore to the farthest point back, and it still doesn't work. I tried the first link and nothing happened. When I tried the second link, there was not a system folder in the policies folder, so I didn't know what to do.

VailVeix,

As a test, create a new adminsitrator account to see if it your are able to change these in that account. This will let us know if it's just your user account or for the whole computer.

The new account's desktop changes fine, but the original account still doesn't.

Ok, that's good news. You can copy the contents of the folders and hidden AppData folder in your old account's C:\Users\(user-name) folder into the corresponding new account's C:\Users\(user-name) folders to copy over most of your settings.

After everything checks out ok in the new account, you can delete the old account from within the new account.
