Hello,

My desktop computer malfunctioning lately. It was initially running vista, that seemed outdated so I moved up to windows 7 about 2 years ago.

A few months ago I noticed this Megatrends error before booting, I didn't care much for it until I realized it was telling me that the hard drive that I had previously plugged in from my old laptop was bad. So I removed it. But I kept getting this error without the bad external hard drive part. Again didn't care, now I just noticed that it's been telling me that the main hard drive is failing.

But the main issue is that shortly after booting up it either, freezes, does the blue screen or the monitor goes to sleep. In every case (including the blue screen cause it freezes while at the blue screen sometimes too lol) I have to turn it off, oftentimes I'll be able to restart it right away but sometimes the power tower will be on and not the monitor in which case I have to turn it off and wait awhile before the screen can also work. I'm also running really low on storage space.

Are these issues related and any ideas on how to fix all of this without going through the trouble of having someone to look at it. Thanks!

If its dying there is no fix. run from a cmd prompt chkdsk c: /f it will ask ro run at reboot see what that says then goto diskmakers website and download their test software see if that reports its dying.

If it has bad sectors you cant clone it as the bad bit will be copied to a new drive so the only solution is to get a new drive and clean install
