Desktop icons are being split into two blocks

I have many icons on my desktop but when I arrange them by name it arranges half of them A-Z and then lists the remaining half from A-Z again.

How can I get them all to arrange as one set?

Windows 7 has two places that it stores the desktop for each user. Your user desktop and the public desktop. When you arrange them, they are arranged separately in each place, hence the two blocks.
Just put them all only into your user desktop location.

It was the case that they were located in different locations.
