desktop icons disappeared

Hi guys...
Got problem hope someone could help me.
My computer has suddenly restarted and after next boot all icons on desktop has disappeared. All of them: My computer, Network, Recycle bin and the rest of shourtcuts.
How to restore them back as all ticks for main icons are on if I go to PERSONALIZE->CHANGE DESKTOP ICONS?
What to do and why does it happen?

Could it be as simple as Right click on desktop> click on view> is show desktop icons ticked?

If that isn't the problem, try a System Restore to before this problem happened.

Thanks a lot. i did not know about that in win 7. it helps. thanks. any idea why this become unticked after suspicious restart?

An unexpected restart can have all kinds of unexpected results. Haven't had any issues with this Windows 7 machine (knock head), but on my old XP machine, I've had forced restarts cause Avast to stop working. Reset folder options, etc. Basically Windows doesn't do it's normal things, and gets mad after . The concern would be if the retart reoccured or became an issue. For now put it down to Karma, and thank that it was a small inconvenience. Glas you got it sorted. A Guy
