Windows 7 dual boot troubleshooting

My venerable Win 7 laptop also has Linux Mint installed but due to a Linux partition deletion, only the Linux "GRUB" menu appears but it cannot be edited to make Win 7 the "default". A Win 7 forum apparent fix was posted many years ago but comes with an ominous warning abt the Win "Recovery Partition" presence. Apparently if a recovery partition exists, the fix will not work and may make the situation worse. The recovery partition is apparently present ONLY (?) if the PC manufacturer (ACER) pre-installed Win 7 before shipping. Since I plan to avoid shooting myself in the foot, I want to double-check that I can SAFELY use the recommended fix (1) YUMI multiboot USB creator, (2) bootable Partition Wizard and (3) EasyBCD) to (hopefully) restore the dual boot menu to an effective format. This fix includes deleting the recovery partition.

There is a 'C' partition and also a small 'E' FAT 32 partition next to 'C' but its only installed file is the recycle bin. All other partitions are "logical" so I assume they are dedicated to Linux. This probably means that (1) Win 7 was NOT pre-installed by Acer and (2) the published fix above shd work (with a little bit of luck). Is this assumption OK ? Is there an easier method to change the Linux GRUB file using Win 7 ? Thanx.

Update to original post

Since there have not been any replies to my original post for correcting the dual-boot dilemma, another option may be to repair the MBR so that only Win 7 is supported ignoring any access to Linux during boot. To get more space on 'C:\' all Linux partitions can be removed later using a partition manager. If this is a valid approach, what next ?? How can an ISO be created on removable disk that will boot and then change the MBR to Windows only config ? If so, how shd the ISO be downloaded (what source ?)
Also what backup precaution shd be taken ? My Win 7 laptop supports bootable USB thumb drive. So which backup/restore pgm shd be used to easily & safely backup the entire HD (ncluding Linux) using bootable USB thumb drive and external disk storage ? Thanx.
