Desktop icons won't stay put - help!!!

I have never ending problems with Win 7 - Problem: I like to spread out my desktop icons - NOT align to grid! Procedure: right click desktop/view/uncheck align to grid/blablabla - well I do it and then it rechecks after refresh immediately by itself and moves icons back to grid which i dont want. I ve tried different things - nothing works so far. Also I: right click desktop/personalize/ease of use/change admin settings/CHECK: apply all setting to logon desktop - hit ok etc - The check mark DOES NOT STAY PUT. Anyone know why? and is this possibly the solution to the ICON desktop grid issue? I am administrator, owner and CEO of my laptop and im frustrated! thank you for any suggestions!

oh yeh no prob- i m from the north coast too but live in LA - btw this so wierd - its gotta be a corrupted file somewhere lol - i ve tried these registry fixers and OS repair stuff in safe mode doesnt do anything - did nt work - probably only a clean OS i guess but i hate doing that - I know its gotta be something simple like findfing a needle in a haystack i almost give up - butI i actually got it to work in another user account desktop profile i created! but not on my Admin main account! its so bogus - it has something to do with the user profile thing which is confusing at the least in Win 7 - thanks at least for suggestions - which i ve already tried unfortunatly - ok onward to the next Win 7 glitch
