Are you speaking of the "generic"-looking icons in the right column -- the five at the bottom, plus the one near the top?

If that's what you are talking about, then the reason they look like that is that Windows either can't find the program listed in the target, or it can't find an icon associated with that program. One reason you might see this is that you have lost your internet connection, and so the icons can no longer find their associated programs. But I doubt that this is the case, because these all appear to be locally-installed programs; and in the lower right of the screen, the Ethernet icon shows that you have a good internet connection.

To fix the icons, you can try to right-click on each one and make sure that the target and the "find program in" fields are correctly set (I'm not sure how this is worded in Windows 7); then click the "Change Icon" button, and browse to the executable of this program, and select an icon.

By the way, a very nice looking wall paper.

Thanks for your reply. Yes those are the icons in question. If it helps when starting the correct icons appear but then change to ones that can be seen
Tried your suggestions but no luck.

I can read the names but what are they? Are they a certain kind of file, such as .pdf, .doc, .jpg, or etc.? Are they programs that are being linked?

This behavior may occur if the icon cache is not properly updated. To resolve this behavior, use one or more of the following methods:

Press the F5 key to refresh the icons in the current folder.
Close and then reopen a window that contains incorrect icons.
Restart your computer.
Re-create the ShellIconCache file. This file is re-created automatically when you change your display's color depth. Follow these steps to change your display's color depth to a new setting and then change it back to the original setting:
Right-click the desktop and then click Properties.
Click the Settings tab.
Change the color depth from the current setting to a new setting. For example, change from Highest (32 bit) to Lowest (16 bit).
Click Apply, and then click Yes to accept the changes.
Change the color depth back to its original setting.
Click Apply, and then click Yes to accept the changes.
Using Registry Editor, add the Max Cached Icons string value with a value data of 2000 to the following registry key, and then restart your computer:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
If the icons are still incorrect, delete the ShellIconCache file. The Max Cached Icons value data range is between 100 and 4096. The default value is 500.
Hope this helps :)
