SOLVED - Desktop slideshow frustrations

I really LOVE a dynamic desktop & it was one of the reasons I originally upgraded to Win 7, but I'm sure I'm not alone in the way it's set up. I sometimes point it to folders with upwards of 800 pics, & invariably as I work through unticking those I don't want I accidentally miss & the whole lot are then unticked. Cancel & start over only for it to happen just as I'm about to save my new selection !!

And why oh WHY does it keep closing out after you save?

Anyway I could fill a book with my irritations so figure it's about time i see if there's any Reg hacks or tips etc, or maybe an easier alternative program that might just function properly with some more options e.g. view pics full size so that you can better determine whether you want them included (fine on a laptop where you can scale them all up)

Anyone help me out? Am I missing something?
Thanks

Create a new folder and just put the pics you want to use in there, 800 is wayyyy to many  select that folder for your desktop pics. Of course you need pics with the proper resolution.

Should perhaps have clarified that I constantly like to switch on/off those pics I view which is why I can't do the folder option (already have 4 folders but am constantly changing pics in them anyway). So am I thus then stuck with the current annoying situation? With 800+ pics it would take me ages pulling out those I don't want to view this wk, only to stick them back in next wk - did I mention I'm female LOL!

MY apologies - I thought this was (& used to be) somewhere to get a sensible answer to any question - just because I maybe want to do this differently to many others, doesn't call for such responses IMHO!

NP - least I know now where NOT to return to when I have any future questions, sensible or otherwise :(

Not sure if this is what you want or if it will work for you but its sort of a different program to accomplish what I think you want. Maybe it will work better for you. Read this article and see if its something you'd like.

Thanks SO much Gator - all I was after TBH. Appreciate you taking time (& patience) to respond with some sensible help. Apologies too - seem to have lost my SoH just lately - should keep my own irritation off the board :( Thanks again

Let me know if the s/w that gator's link points to (or any other alternate you may find) meets your one folder, 'random' picture selection requirement. If you are wanting to constantly change your display set via a single folder, I find it difficult to imagine an app that will do this.
