Device Installation option not available in GPE

[FONT=&quot]I am trying disable automatic driver installation In Windows 7 using this method in Windows 7 Home Premium. How To Disable Automatic Driver Installation In Windows 7 / Vista I got access to the Local group policy editor using this “hack” devised by [/FONT][FONT=&quot]davehc of this forum - Thanks :) How to Enable The problem is I do not have the Device Installation option in this sequence in the GPE - Computer Configuration->Administrative Templates->System->Device Installation. Can someone please tell me why this might be, Thanks[/FONT]

Thanks Brink, I did see that option but I assume that I would have to turn off automatic driver installation, then uninstall the printer / reinstall and pick the driver that I wish to use? The funny thing is when I got to work today I had a look in GPE in Windows 7 Enterprise and that option in there whereas the "hacked" GPE on my Home Premium edition does not have that option. Do you think that there are different versions of the GPE

Usually gpedit will not work when trying to use it in an unsupported edition. Instead, you could make the registry changes for it.

Yeah, you would want to completely uninstall and delete the driver, then install the one you wanted to use for it instead.
