device & printer panel does not load?

Really weird, when selecting Devices and Printers (Device Stage) in the menu the progress bar would take forever and never display anything - just blank.

Finally discovered it was actually a bluetooth issue in services. I don't even know why I looked there - -

THE FIX at least for me..

Click Start button, type "services" into the search program and files box. This brings up a list in the menu, select Services. This should open a list of local services on your system.., Find 'Bluetooth Service" and make sure it has started, right click and set to 'automatic' (mine was already set), Select "Bluetooth Support Service" and start, set to automatic (mine was set on manual) --

This fixed my issue, hopefully yours as well..

I had been having this issue for almost 18 months now, and it was a mild irritation, and I didn't really pursue a solution; however, this morning, I had cause to start up my W7 Laptop in 'Safe' mode, and it was magically there! So, after I'd logged in again, I look for a solution. I found your directions very simple and straightforward to follow - and yes, it did resolve my issue, and for that I am very, very grateful! :D

This issue has bugged me for a long time. I spent a lot of time searching for solutions on the net, many are given (Bluetooth service, Print spooler, ...), none of them worked for me.

The solution for me turned out to be:

Boot ONE TIME in Safe Mode, then boot normally, problem solved!

This action also solved my issue "Safely Remove Hardware icon does not show devices"

Windows update

OK I had the frozen add printer issue (error code 0x0000071a)...which also stopped MS Word from opening.

I restarted spooler and bluetooth as described above..and toggled default printers and all was fine.

THAN windows update ran...without my permission btw...and I was back to the same problems....1 hour of google search later i found this forum again and fixed it again.

What is the deal with windows update? Is this going to have to be repeated ever time it runs now??

Just wanted to chime in with a belated thanks. Enabling the Bluetooth Support Services not only gave me my Printers and Devices back, but it also solved the niggling annoyance of the Safely Remove Devices icon not working. Thank you!

I've found the following solution that resolves various issues in Windows.

Create the following Registry entry
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\RegistrySizeLimit (REG_SZ/String Value)
Value data: FFFFFFFF (That's 8 F's)
Reboot.
