Different BSOD every couple of days on a new pc

this is a brand new pc which i bought about a month ago:
intel ivybridge i5-3550
corsair cmx8gx3m2a1333c9 4gb x 2
intel dh77eb board
asus gtx560
550w PSU
windows 7 prof 64 - original.

every couple of days i would get a bluescreen. then when rebooting i would get a couple more. then i will go away for a couple of days, and then in about 5 or 6 days it will happen again.

i had daemon tools on the pc, but since reading about the issues that it gives i have removed it.

another interesting thing to know is that i have ran memtest86. the first time a ran it it found ALOT of errors. we then switched out the rams to identify the faulty ram stick. but memtest never found any errors again?!! that was very confusing.

i hope someone can help me with my problems.

Software Concerns:

Start Menu\Programs\MSI Kombustor

MSI Kombustor is known to cause instability with systems. Please remove the software. Software overclocking does not provide reliable overclocking. Overclocking should be accomplished through the BIOS or through the graphics card manufacturer's software.​

Analysis:

Crashes point primarily to a hardware issue. Run some hardware checks.

• If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.
  
  
• If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:
  • SSD firmware
  • BIOS Version
  • Chipset Drivers
  • Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
  • If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.
  
  
• Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.
  SeaTools for Windows
  
  SeaTools for DOS​
  
  
• Monitor temperatures during the following tests.
  
  Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures.​
  • Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
  • Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
  • HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
  • Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.
    
    
  • Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.
    
    
  • Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest
  
  
• Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

  Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. :warn:WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!
  
  
  For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:
  1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
  2. Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
  3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
  4. Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
  Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.

ok i have done the following (will do the rest tonight after work)

uninstalled the msi-kombustor.
installed CPU-Z and attached the screenshots.
installed video mem stress test and uploaded the screenshot.
installed and ran furtest for about 4min.

i dont have a solid state drive.

will post the rest tonight.

i have almost completed all of the tests, and found no errors.
but i did find errors after running memtest86 through the night.
i took some photos with my phone, so the quality is a bit bad. (see attached)

does this mean that its one of the 2 ram sticks, one of the 2 slots, the voltage, or could it even be the memory of the graphics card thats giving problems?

ok so here is the rest of the test results:

It wouldnt do the "fix all" scans cause it says i dont have a Seagate HD.
so i then ran the Western Digital DLGDIAG.

There are three tests in Prime95 and not just one. Small FFTs, Blend, and In-Place Large FFTs. Each should be run for a few hours at least.

For the Memtest86+ errors, proceed to Part 3 of Memtest86+.

And no, your graphics card memory is not tested by Memtest86+, so it is unlikely to be the problem. One of the RAM modules or one of the slots is causing issues. It could be voltage issues, but it is unlikely with just two modules.

ok so i ran memtest with ram stick #1 in slot #1 and found no errors.
then i ran memtest with ram stick #2 in slot #2 and also found no errors.

Have you tested the RAM individually through doing your normal routine in Windows? Test the memory slots and modules as follows.

1. Shut down and turn off your computer.
2. Unplug all power sources to the tower (unplug the power from the outlet/surge protector or PSU).
3. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds (for your safety and the safety of the components) to close the circuit and drain all power from components.
4. Remove the casing.
5. Remove all but one memory module making sure you are grounded while doing so.
6. Replace the casing and put the remaining memory modules in a safe, static free environment.
7. If the problem persists, repeat steps 1-4 and move the memory module to another slot (while staying grounded, of course).

Do this until all slots have been tested. If all slots fail, the memory module may be bad. Test with one of the remaining modules. Continue one module at a time in one slot at a time until you find a good module and good slot. Test remaining modules in the good slot, test good modules in other slots to find bad slots, etc.


Test by doing your normal routine in Windows for twice as long as it takes to get a crash or until you get a crash, whichever comes first. You can also test by doing the tasks that generally cause crashes.

i havent had a blue screen for the last 10 days.
and since then i did uninstall deamon tools and the msi-kombustor.
i also had driver verifier on for at least 7 of the 10 days.
supose no reason to look for something if it isnt giving me problems! lol

about the memtest, is it normal for it to give errors and then not to give errors?

i got 2 bsod last night.
the first one was while i was playing Battlefield3.
the sound got distorted and sounded like a sound clip got stuck.
it went on for about 10seconds and then the bsod happened.
it had a description of "Page fault in nonpaged area".

then about 20min later, i was updating StarCraft2 with the latest update and another blue screen struck with the same "Page fault in nonpaged area".

after restarting i ran starcraft2 again, it updated and works.
no blue screens that time.

last night a got another 3 bluescreens - almost threw my pc out the window :sarc:

Is your memory timings correct in the bios? use this tool to check that your memory is set to the right timings.

Post some screen shots of cpu, mainboard, memory, spd and graphics.

a friend suggested its my hard drive or my power supply.

we are swopping out my harddrive for another one over the weekend, will see if i get more bsod's.
but the problem with that is that the bsod happens when ever they want - sometimes 2 or 3 weeks apart.
what test should a perform to stress my pc so that i can force a bsod to occur, instead of waiting 2/3 weeks for it to happend?
or should i just play alot of games?
the last couple of bsod happend while i was playing battlfield3.

if i still get bsod with the other harddrive, we are swopping the power supply.


how can i test the power supply?

If you look at the SPD Tab it shows what your memory timings should be, 4th column along

Frq: 667mhz
CAS latency: 9.0
RAS TO CAS: 9
RAS PRECHARGE:9
tRAS: 24
tRC: 34
COMMAND RATE: 2T
VOLTAGE: 1.6

Check your bios that they are set at them values.

NP, I had this happening to me and it was the voltage, it was set at 1.5v and it needed to be 1.6v

Hopefully this is all it is!!
