I am using putty to ssh to a remote cluster to work. To avoid it automatically disconnecting after some time of idle, I changed the setting in putty, and also changed the setting on the linux machine on the remote cluster. Now it seems it will not drop any more on windows xp, but it still keeps dropping after some idle time on windows 7. I did have removed the power saving feature of network devices on windows 7, but no help. Actually I don't think the network device is causing the trouble as I use the browser all the time but just didn't touch putty.

I searched throughout google but didn't find further useful help information except for changing setting on putty, linux and network device. I do think windows xp and 7 make a difference, can anybody help me further on this issue?

Thank you very much,

Can you explain what you mean by (putty)?

I'm a dummy so this means nothing to me. Could you please explain what you are trying to do.

google is always your best friend. Putty is a small program to establish ssh from a windows computer to a linux server.
