Different Services - for Different Users!

I use my desktop as a recording studio PC some of the time, and those DAW programs need a LOT of resources. That's why most of them recommend you install them on a seperate partition, and stop most of Windows' services.

I don't want to install it on a different partition, What I'm trying to do is install it on a different user, but then just have that specific user NOT run a few services and startup programs.

I could find a way to disable startup programs for a specific user, but I couldn't find a way to disable SERVICES for only one specific user. Services like "Task Scheduler", "Indexer", iTunes, AVG, TeamViewer, and many more that I do NOT want running on my studio user - but I DO want running on my every day user.

Is there a way to do this?

THANKS in advance! :)

In theory, this is possible through the use of a logon script that is tied to that particular user. There are, however, services that you shouldn't disable, in particular those that pertain to the security of your system such as AVG (I take it that AVG is your ant-virus) and services relating to the Firewall. In addition, you could have potential problems should any applications running under this account need administrative elevation.

Hi Dwarf, thanks for the quick reply :)

When I'm running my studio desktop, i'm not using the internet, so i'll be fine with turning off AVG and my Firewall as well as other basic services. I really want the computer running as fast as possible and with no delays.

Can you explain a little more about logon scripts? how do you use them exactly? I've never done anything like that before. And how do you tie them to one user?

Will it be easier to just make a script that (after startup is finished) goes and turns all the services that were started OFF ?

i'll be fine with turning off AVG ?

Unless you have a file which infected and either has a delayed payload or is only activated on opening !
