It's still a good idea to run Seatools along with the Chkdsk. They can work together to extend the life of a failing HD, or tip you that it may fail soon.

I think HDD I think is already starting to fail on me. It won't boot again after freezing. -____-

Did you run the Seatools diag/repair CD scan yet?

How many times do I need to explain that this will save your HD if it is failing? It may be too late now.

If Seatools won't see it, then try Disk Check again from booted Win7 DVD or Repair CD.

Back up your files first.

I got the PC running fine again after some persistent reformat and re-installation of windows 7. I'm having trouble installing the OS now too --- it sometimes hangs while I'm installing the OS. I usually do repairing of the startup of this PC using the Win7 DVD, and it always shows that the root cause of the problem is the HDD. And yeah, Seatools can't see the HDD.

Confirm that Seatools CD is booting and working correctly by trying it on another computer or burning another CD.

If booted Seatools CD doesn't see the HD then try running DIsk Check from DVD Command line again, then try Seatools again.

Try another HD to see if problems go away.

Does the HD register correctly in BIOS? What is the SATA controller setting? Change cables.

There's actually 4 slot for the HDD on this computer's motherboard. Some of it fails. There are times the PC won't boot when I put the connection at the faulty slot. When it boots, it registers fine with the BIOS. How do you know what the SATA controller setting is? I haven't done changing cables yet -- that could be a problem too since this PC randomly freezes.

Then try different ports and cables. Change boot order accordingly in BIOS setup. While there check for SATA controller settings.

This computer is still under its warranty. I'd go to the shop where I bought this and have them fix things for me. I'll update the outcome based on their findings. .

Sorry it took me a while again to post the result. The problem got fixed after replacing the serial ata of the HDD with a new one. I'm no longer experiencing freezes in this PC.

Oops, it's not the serial ata, it's the serial ata cable rather. Everything's working fine again after replacing it with a new one. I'm still having troubles accessing my external HD though, but I could access other pluggable device such as PSP, USB Flashdrive with no problems whatsoever. .

i find it weird about this disk boot error bcoz my cos had the same problem, so i got a 500gb for him. his old hdd i took it home & testing the 320gb hdd. until today, that hdd is working on my pc. so how can it be that the hdd got bad sector, but when i'm using win 7, i never get any error.

pls help me out here.

now, the 500 gb is already giving the disk boot error. hopefully it doesn't attack my 1TB.
