Today while i was watching a video on my computer, it suddendly crashed and showed me a blue screen. I immideately pressed the restart button and as i was waiting for the pc to boot i got this message: "Disk boot failure, please insert system disk and press enter". I have had this blue screen multiple times in the past but it is the first time i get this message...

It has started to get on my nerves, having in mind that i've been trying to find a solution for about 3 hours now..

Thanks in advance..

- check the boot order in your bios
- try running repair with operating system CD
- with all the BSODs, you will either have to diagnose those or do a clean install.
- you could go to c:/windows/minidump -> zip your dmp files -> and upload to this site using the paperclip

Hello,

Try this article and see if that makes any difference

MBR - Restore Windows 7 Master Boot Record

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

Hope this helps,
Captain

What if in the first article about the MBR, in step 3 i don't see anything where it says operating system??

edit: By the way i folled the steps but i get stuck on step 8.. it doesn't tell me anything about success.. it says "target volumes will be updated with BOOTMGR compatible bootcode" and underneath it "The system partition was not found: The requested system device cannot be found."

Sounds like the kind of thing that happens when a HDD sector containing the MBR goes bad

Whaaat?? Seriously? I recently changed my HDD..

Wouldn't be the first time I've seen a new HDD start to fail right away, but before jumping to any conclusions, try doing a repair install then immediately running a disk check with both options checked off.

A repair install sounds just like it is, you reinstall windows using the upgrade option, then restore your files from the OLD folder. the link is to a tutorial on how to do it. If you're getting errors during the installation or a message that windows can't be installed, that will confirm my suspicion that you have a bad HDD

OMG i turned off my pc, unplugged the power cable plugged it again and it works!!! :p

Guys thanks for all the help and sorry if i bothered you..!:D

I would still check for problems.. just to be sure it's not going to happen again. Especially because the cause of your bsod is still not apparent.. but glad to hear you got it up and running

I had exactly the same thing many many times last year with my ancient pc, it really lasted months...!
Same symptoms, same message...
Sometimes it was running fine one or two weeks, or it could crash several times a day... Completely nuts!

...Till i realize one day that one of the PSU IDE connection was bad, it had a false contact...
