Disk Cleanup is taking too long?

why does disk cleanup take so long? I am on IE, Compaq "Presario" cpu. Internet "11"

I'm not sure why ie11 would make any difference except if you still had ie11 open and surfing the internet when running disk cleanup,

If you want to run disk cleanup close all open browser windows,
Cleanup is calculated temp files if ie is open that makes it difficult if not impossible to do which might be why it's taking too long to function

I'll just add nothing will be cleaned until a restart or shut down.

Close all programs including your browser when you do a disk cleanup.

Here is a tutorial that will help. When done doing disk cleanup reboot.
That reboot might take longer than normal while the cleanup is being completed. If it's the first time you have used disk cleanup or other such things it will take a little longer. My systems take from 2 to 3 min. but I do cleanups often.
