Basically if you are a movie-collector, I would think you should apart from a HDD, burn it to DVDs and BDs (as the case may be).
Again no media lasts for ever and so is technology. ( I have known people who had transferred their archives from Reel Tapes, to cassettes to optical media. What next?)
No media lasts forever: You need to refresh your archives periodically by rearchiving.
Technology changes: You have to redo your archive to the new technology. ( you may find no optical discs and players 10 years from now.

Cloud and third party servers can vanish anytime. So it is never an option.
