Hello folks, It has been quite a few months since I logged into my win 7 Dell Precision M-50 laptop. Just out of curiosity, I tried a list DISM commands in DOS admin (dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth), when completed I accessed the log file and it mentioned an error (2 missing files. package 58 as 6.1.1.0.mum & package 58 as 6.1.1.0.cat, with a reference of KB3046049 CBS catalog.
My questions first, I have a list of file error fixes (a 6 step version for win 10 but am unsure (since a medical issue) if I can use the same checklist for my old win 7 laptop). I do not recall if I ever had the DOS command set when I was using that laptop. The steps are:
1. admin command prompt.
2. sfc /scannow.
3. dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth.
4. dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (this command does not run).
5. sfc /scannow.
6. chkdsk /scan
I would like to know:
1. Is this a working tool for my older win7 laptop to help keep my files in line?
2. I am thinking the two files (package 58 of KB3046049) are needed to correctly complete step 3 (no errors) & 4 (allowing it to run successfully)
It has been quite a while since relying on this laptop (it has quite a few files/programs that I cannot get along without) and I cannot quite remember some things I learned since a few mini-strokes I have experienced.
?? I would like to not relearn win 7 OS, just every once in a while use the laptop and keep it 'relatively' clean of os errors. Can someone tell me this little tool I use in win 10 (ie if the DOS commands work as above within win 7)?
?? Can someone can direct me to that KB number (KB3046049), I tried to find it but could not. I figure IF I can get that KB, I can install it and it'll not error step 3 above (and allow step 4 to run).
Thank you, for answering the above two questions! Have a Blessed Day!
