Display driver stopped & recovered, for NVIDIA

GFORCE 8800 GT
all games hasn't any problems but it's about a week all games getting Stop and showing black screen - after some seconds they run again and again stop ! - "assassins creed revelation" , COJ:gunslinger , Bully : scholarship , The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim --- when i minimize them a balloon shows the message :
"Display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered - Display driver NVIDIA Windows kernel mode driver, version (these versions i installed 296,310,320) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
the first time problem appeared when used 310 driver until i had no problem before and it happened immediately while i can't remember if installed any program, ware or utility that could effect the driver !

i just then installed 320 and even problem gone worst , The BSOD with "nvlddmkm.sys" error, so i backed to the older versions and balloon message still the same.

i cleared the hardware of dust and hairs , disabled the visual features of win7 , and as told switched between the variety of driver versions 296,310,320 - now i want to do a clear windows install , but before i doing it i want more suggestions. :huh:

Roll back to the last known stable set of drivers.

Even though the 8800 is on the support list, they no longer test those cards with every driver set.

Your best bet is to make a thread on the Nvidia Forums

Also consider upgrading, sub $100 cards now crush it, those aren't meant to last forever, and you have the PSU to handle one since you have a 8800GT going, unless your PSU is also of questionable Watts/quality. *cough*

Thermal paste on it is probably in horrid shape, probably dust/dirt covered fans and heatsink.... [talking to the masses with these cards, in general]
Compressed cans of AIR are your friend.

Even my new Artic MX-4 Thermal paste says on it, 8 years, and that's the good stuff.
4g for $10 on sale. [figure 3 uses per gram]

So thermal paste is suspect on CPU & GPU if they are 4+ years, and yeah I know it's a pain in the neck to do, I just replaced my CPU and HAD to remove the video card to have any chance of latching back down the CPU heatsink/fan, and having the CPU & Heatsink come out stuck together without the locking mech on the CPU opening, grrrrrrrrrr!

when i wanted to clean the case's inside i found that one of fans installed on the case's door is not working , so i detached and just tossed away ! it was right face to the Graphic port !!! maybe if i just install a new one it takin on again ! very appreciate
