Hello,
This is my second thread on sevenforums, my bsod issue was succesfully resolved by you guys(thank you so much for that) and I need help again :(

Sometimes my screen goes black or pink for 1-2 seconds then it becomes normal again, windows gives me a warning saying "display driver 296.10 stopped working and has recovered". This is happening for months now but it was very rare until recently.

There aren't any fps issues wih games, even when I play for full nights. But when im in areas which stresses my pc(like Orgrimmar), oftenly screen becomes shadowy for 1-2 sec, no display issues, just shadowy in color. When I close the game, there is a windows message saying my PC is not strong enough for Windows 7 aero colors and I should turn back to Windows 7 basic. This message has been showing since the first day of my pc.

My mobo slot went dead a few weeks ago and caused bsods, that slot is empty now and I am running with 2GB Gskill DDR3-1333 since then. Also, I reinstalled the windows from scratch and installed 296.10 drivers again. I get no more bsods since I stopped using the damaged ram slot but this problem remains.

What should I do to solve this?

My specs are,
Windows 7 Ultimate X64,
ASUS M4A78LT-M LE AM3 AMD 760G Motherboard with one dead mobo slot,
Leadtek Winfast GTX460 OC Edition GDDR5 1GB 256bit
Samsun SME 1920W LED Monitor
Phenom II X4 840 AM3 3.2GHz 2MB
Seagate ST 350041 3AS / 3.5'' 500GB Barracude 3.0 16MB
2GB Gskill DDR3-1333 single stick(thinking of buying a single 4GB corsair xms-1333 stick)
550W Gigabyte Power Supply, came with the Gigabyte case. I know my power supply is not very strong so I use medium to high graphics settings in games, never very high, too much anti alising or ultra settings.
PC is one year old.

Sorry if this thread belongs to the Graphics card section, please move it to there if it is = )

Hi,
this problem is very common on Vista/7 OS. I have had this issue on my old PC too. I have spent hours looking for a working fix for this to no avail. The only thing that fixed this for me was changing my graphic card, but that might not work for you as there is a lot of things that might cause this.

Microsoft has a KB-article for this issue, you can try if their solutions work for you:
Display driver stopped responding and has recovered Error message in Windows Vista or Windows 7

There is also post on this forum about this issue:

You may want to consider uninstalling the 296.10 driver and installing an earlier one. Not sure of the exact version numbers, but I think they are something like 285.53 and 270.56?
