Display has moved on monitor

Greetings to all,
I'm currently having a problem with an HP EliteDisplay E241i: the system operator (by that I mean a human) pressed some buttons on the monitor and the display moved about two inches to the right and half an inch down. I know it's not the computer, as I connected it to another monitor and it looks normal connected to another monitor. In addition, I've tried another VGA cable, a different power cable, and even tried another power outlet, thinking that the UPS may have a problem. I've tried using the monitor's on screen menu to move the display, but it doesn't go far enough. I've also tried several factory resets, in addition to disconnecting power and holding down the power button for 30 seconds.
My thought was that there may be some combination of button pressing on the monitor that threw it off, but I haven't been able to find any information about that. Anyone have any brilliant ideas?

Which graphics card does the computer use?
Do you have access to software the controls the graphics card (e.g NVIDA Control Panel)

What can sometimes happen is that Windows 7/Software can save a profile of that connected monitor, so you don't have to adjust the settings each time you connect the monitor (In this case the shifted display).

See if you can access any software that might be integrated with the graphics card, otherwise try to reinstall the graphics card driver with its latest update. This should fix the problem.

1. Press the settings button on the monitor.
2. Find an select the entry related to Display Settings (the term may be different) - not brightness, contrast, input or color settings.
3. Locate and select the menu for verticle position and horizontal position.
4. Adjust up/down and left/right as needed.
5. Save settings.

Great steps, although I think JerkStoreCowboy said the monitor vertical shift/horizontal shift didn't move far enough when adjusting the monitor.

Also JerkStoreCowboy, could you tell us when you connect another computer to your dell monitor, does that display input show a shift as well? I think we have to confirm that its not the monitor at fault first.

You're right - I really need a vaction (holiday) to get my brain back in gear. Of course 9 eye surgeries in the past year didn't really help my ability to read very well but I'm VERY happy to still have my eye sight!

Hi ellellell1, Thanks to you and everyone else for your responses.
I do have access to the software controls and graphics card, though I'm no longer on site with the machine.
It's using a Nvidia Geforce 8400.
I tried updating the driver, but this didn't help. So, since the customer wouldn't let me take both servers off line at the same time, I purchased a new video card. Unfortunately, this one did the same thing. So, just to be sure, when I got time, I put the suspect video card into the other DL320e and it worked fine in that server.
So, my home office is going to send a new DL320, as this one seems to have a problem on the motherboard somewhere.
