This is a new system built yesterday with the following specs:

asus fm2 mobo
amd a8-5600k
8gb mushkin blackline
1tb caviar blue

after install of win 7 with the default vga driver the output fills my monitor, after installing the amd drivers from my driver disk or straight from amd the computer outputs a standard res to my monitor but it is distorted with a 3 inch black bar on the left side and a 1/2 inch bar on the right but it is filled vertically. it is not overscan as that is only supported by digital connections, not vga. I have tried to connect it through hdmi and it works perfect. im just not sure what is causing the issue with vga.

any input would be awesome because im bashing my head against the wall right now.

With the default windows driver the resolution is correct and the monitor is filled, will the proper drivers installed from amd via the autodetect and download tool the above described problem presents.

id stick with the default driver but hdmi does not work with it.....

You mentioned "overscan" -- are you trying to use a TV monitor?
