when i moved to spain from the uk last year i bought a laptop here
windows 7 home premium was pre-installed
at some point and i don't remember how i changed the display language from spanish to english
i have just bought another laptop which also has windows 7 home premium installed
and i can't work out how to change the display language
the received wisdom seems to be that it is only possible with an upgrade to ultimate
but i didn't upgrade my first machine
is it possible that i reinstalled windows and was therefore able to select english as the default display language?

thanks in anticipation
bas

Welcome to Seven Forums bas1948. It is possible you may be able to change some of the interface language using Language Interface Packs (LIPs).

Language Interface Packs (LIPs). LIPs can be installed over any edition of Windows Vista and Windows 7, providing a translated version of only the most widely used dialog boxes, menu items, and help content. You can download LIPs from the Microsoft Download Center by using the links below. To install a LIP, you will need to have the required parent language installed on your PC. If your language is listed as "coming soon," it's on the way—check back here for updates.

But yes, I believe you can choose English at the time of a reinstall as a fix. A Guy

If you manage to track down the right language pack (not the LIPs, language packs are harder to come by), and you feel brave enough, you can try this.
