Hello,

I inherited an Acer laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and I have upgraded to Ultimate so I can change the language to English.
Everything on the laptop is in Swedish at the moment but I can figure out some.

On the Microsoft site I heard that I could use Windows Update and select optional updates and "Under the Windows 7 Language Packs category, select the desired language pack." That's where I'm stuck, because I don't see any Language Packs under optional updates.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks.

Yes, there were 89 important updates that I have started loading. It's very slow though.
And about 7 optional updates that I looked at but did not note down.

Thanks, Brink --

looks like I'll need to install a language pack for English so I'll follow the tutorial once these other updates are done.

Good news -- the language change steps worked successfully.

Thanks Brink for your help.

Unrelated, I still see occasional dialogues in Swedish, like when logging into Facebook or Google for the first time in a while. But I see them on my desktop too which was always in English. So I guess it's a feature of living abroad. Might be related to country settings.
