Display Options With Asus GTX 460

Hi, how many displays can my graphics card support, i would like two 1080p displays and potentially a third 1080p television or a 2048x1125 monitor (which i currently use) Thanks

Hello WW7 mate one way to find out is to hook up the three monitors or whatever and change the Display settings in Control Panel see pic.

Now having said this I would be wary to start with because I would not want to overwork the GPU which I do not know anything about apart form what you have added at the top so please can you do this http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html Personally I prefer to see the specs at the bottom of anyone's posts it makes it so much easier to help knowing what someone has got.

According to the specs of that video card that you indentified:

GeForce GTX 460 | Specifications | GeForce

It is capable of multi monitor support, however, it only has three monitor connections. It may be an either/or situation. You may only be able to run two monitors at a time using the DVI connections, or one DVI and the HDMI connection, or all three. It's hard to say, and Nvidia doesn't really tell us. It's probably likely that you can run three monitors at once, though it will probably strain an old card like that. If you could find another one and put it into SLI with that one, performance would be better, especially if you're going to try playing any of the newer games with that setup.

In any case, you're likely limited to 1080p for all three monitors.

I agree, if you do hook up more then 1, keep your eye on the temperature of the card, it could get real hot.

I have always have two displays connected to the card, a 1080p TV and a 2048x1125 monitor with not problems withe the idle temps at around 50c

I am going to simply borrow another display from someone but how do i ensure that i don't blow my graphics card when adding the third display? Thanks

Hmm well you will need to keep an eye on the temps for starters because as Mellon Head said earlier Asus says it will support three but with differing connections. Now I am not sure but having two DVI and one HDMI connections and one monitor at a very different res? may even cause problems in itself.

Now is the third monitor really that necessary?
