Hello.

I just bought a used 22" display from someone I know. (He was using Unbutu or something so he can't help me.)

I wanted to add this new screen to my other samsung syncMaster 226 to make a dual screen.

The problem was, I couldn't choose the right resolution. I only had 4:3 resolution available. I tried everything, making a custom resolution in the nvidia panel, but it wouldn't budge. I could only get 1600x1024 or 1600x1200. The native resolution of the screen is 1680x1050.

The screen is a HANNS-G HG216D. The drivers are nowhere to be found. The home site of HANNS-G is a piece of crap. Google couldn't help either.

But I found this topic here

It seemed to be the exact same problem, so I followed. And it kinda worked, exept for one thing.

When I Extracted the registry EDID with phoenix, I didn't see that it was my Samsung EDID that it was extracting (I unpluged the samsung long ago to make the HANNS-G screen work correctly on its own before trying dual screen again).

So I did the phoenix and moninfo thingy. I rebboted and the 1680x1050 resolution was there! But the actual display hadn't changed. The letters are still weird and kind of blurry. Like it was before changing anyting.
And the screen name was syncMaster.

So i went back to device manager, and updated the driver online again, which brought me back the non pnp monitor which was there beforehand.
Now the 1680x1050 resolution is still there, but is still not working properly.

I reckon I have to put the right data in pheonix, but how can I find such data? How come phoenix only lets me extract the EDID from my samsung screen, which is unpluged?

Help me I'm beggin you!
