Display resoution at Max and it's not covering my full screen

I recently did some ATI raedon update that my update manager thing said was ready, after it was done my computer restarted, and when i got back to my desktop and set my resolution back to max, i got this black.. frame pretty much around my dispaly.. i dont know how to get it to cover my full monitor again at max settings, without getting everything all stretchy, can anyone help?

Alex welcome to the Seven Forums.

Open the Catalyst or Vision Control Center (name depends on the rest of the computer, not just the video card) by right clicking on the desktop and selecting it from the context menu. Once open this is what to look for,



then adjust the slider till the border disappears.

Note, if this is already set to 0%, check the settings on the monitor itself, too. You're looking for Over/Underscan or Screen Size, something like that.

Your monitor's menu (buttons on the monitor) will have the horizontal and vertical adjustment options. Adjust the horizontal and vertical sizes of the display separately till the display fills the complete screen to your satisfaction.

Or the monotor's menu will have a Auto Adjust button/option. While the windows is up and running, press this button or select this option and the display will be adjusted automatically filling the LCD screen.

i tried looking for that =/ doesnt give me an option to.. its all greyed out and wont let me get to those options, some of the other options that it would give it just says "Please install or check easy set package" in which i assume is the disk this monitor came with.. turns out that disk isnt for my monde.. this monitor model is LG E2350V i was able to turn on overscan.. it covers more of my screen but not completely if there's no more ideas i guess i could settle for this =/ it would really bother me though

Listing your monitor as "generic plug and play" in your specs would lead to believe no.

Tried it earlier but it just gives me these weird files that dont install/execute anything..

this is what my catalyst window looks like, nothing like in the pic shown to demonstrate on how to adjust my overscan settings, but atleast it opens! but i do think i have to install the driver so that it appears on the catalyst to adjust it.. im not sure, thoughts?

• Make sure to check if the video card supports

ive done this from the guide while trying to find my driver for this model, the download that it gives me only lists 3 things..
a .cat file containing a security catalogue
a .icm file containing an ICC Profile
and a .inf file containing Setup information.. no installation for a driver =/

Don't Be Pulled Two Ways

The other posts are leaning toward your display. I would resolve that first. If that doesn't work return to the CCC software and the graphics card driver.

ty i was able to update the driver.. but it still wont let me get to the greyed out options on my monitor's menue, and this ATI catalyst Control Center doesnt show me the options to scale my over/underscan up and down, it wont even show my display screen, i feel like a helpless idiot right now lol

Graphics Driver

I will post this in case you decide to reload your Graphics driver.

Here is a good way to install a new graphics driver. If you are not familiar with this, do two steps in prep. Download a good copy of your graphics package. I believe you have 5700 series AMD. The link I posted previously should be the correct one. Second if you don't have "Driver Sweeper" here is a link for it. I Would unzip any of the downloads that need it. Put the files where You can easily access them.

Go to device manager and delete your graphics card entry. Don't be alarmed Win will put a generic driver in for you. The generic one will probably give you a display of 800x600 or something like that. Now reboot. Between the boot of your bios and prior to Win starting repeatedly press F8 until windows gives you a choice of how to boot. Select "Safe Mode". Once you are in safe mode, hunt your exe for driver sweeper. Left click and run it as admin. Driver Sweeper will give you a list of drivers to hunt. Check AMD and leave the rest blank. Proceed and the app will show you a list of driver files and registry entries. Skim thru them and check to see that they are all AMD. If so proceed to delete them. This will insure that you don't have any old drivers hangin' around to interfere with your new install. Once the sweep is complete reboot. When you reboot Win will try to identify your card and install a generic driver again. Your display will probably still be 800x600. Not to worry. Go to your driver file that you downladed double click and start the install. If you have the correct driver file, you should be out of the woods.

thank you i bought a new DVI cord and it works perfectly now =]
