Hey guys,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I've just recently removed several viruses off my computer. One of them (which was causing me the most problems) was a DNS Hijacking virus that wouldn't allow me to update most of my programs online or even be able to visit most websites. After I installed several anti-virus programs I was able to remove the viruses but now my computer will not connect to the internet. I can connect to a wireless network or a wired network, but it absolutely will not connect to the internet at all. I have a couple laptops that connect just fine using the same wireless/wired connection to the same router but my desktop will not connect to the internet. I'm at my wits end as to what to do next because again, it will connect the the wireless network but it just keeps telling me that I have 'limited' access. Can anyone help??

Let's see if flushing the DNS cache and restoring MS's Hosts file will let you get back online.

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

@Echo on
pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
attrib -h -s -r hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
attrib +r +h +s hosts
popd
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset all
netsh int ip reset all
shutdown -r -t 1
del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop. Right click on the .bat file to run as Administrator. Your computer will reboot itself.

Now download DDS from one of these links:

Mirror 1 Mirror 2 Mirror 3
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt <-- this will be minimized in the task tray
  • Save both reports to your desktop.
Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
