DNS not working

Sorry everybody, it's been a hectic few days. Got things working and was very happy to cancel the appointment with RoadRunner & not have to waste a beautiful day waiting for them to appear! Found advice similar to chev65's, completely uninstalled and rebooted the Asus router, shut off the modem a while, re-entered the OpenDNS addresses and everything seems to be working fine now for all 3 laptops. Since I'd had the problem when connected directly to the modem, never thought about the router being part of the problem so I'm still not certain about the origin of the problem.
Was tempted to return to the original DNS settings and keep the appointment with RR just to see what their solution was or if they even would have one, but like I said, the weather here Sunday was perfect, sunny & 80+, and my bike was begging to go out and play.

Sounds good fml2002, routers do these sorts of things all the time, usually a reset will fix it. Technet seemed to have some good options for fixing this which I already posted. Hard to say exactly what the problem was but I'm glad it's fixed.

You must be in San Diego also, Sunday was 80+ and perfect.

Not quite, I'm in the northwest Ohio area ;) It was kind of a freak nice day and every day since it's gotten a few degrees colder!

Wrote an email to RR reminding them of the problem and telling them that OpenDNS addresses and resetting the router seemed to fix it and their response was worthy of a politician - it said nothing. Again, thanks everybody for the help, nice to not have to rely on what a company is willing to tell you!

Also, I think a few people said OpenDNS interfered with Avira updates but so far I haven't had that problem.
