I have Googled this subject until I am blue in the face and nothing has helped in the past 48 hrs, even the Open DNS instructions.

I have a Macbook Pro w/ Snow Leopard 10.6x and I recently installed Parallels and Win 7 Prof x64 so I could access many of my military sites.

I was up on the internet in my OWA, I had just gotten my CAC reader to work so I could access my email from home, when my computer got an update push and restarted. Once it rebooted I no longer had internet access and keep getting the DNS error message.

I have tried setting the "preferred DNS & alternate DNS" addys and I will show an internet connection for about 30 seconds and then it changes back to no internet.
I have tried turning off my Win Firewall and my Virus Barrier X6 software/firewall to no change.

I have been on a Mac for about 2 yrs now and am trying to get the hang of Win 7 so I'm not great at the DOS Cmd like code for looking at everything. I have tried a few of the suggestions but nothing has worked and I don't know enough anymore to identify a problem when doing ipconfig /all etc.

I have an Airport Extreme router that works fine with my macbook & my husbands Macbook as well, both wireless and ethernet. I however cannot say the same for the Windows partition and I don't remember enough to know where to look to trouble shoot any router issues etc.

This issue basically nullifies the purchase of Parallels and Win 7 since I now can't get on the internet.

I would GREATLY appreciate any help I just need it to be explained a little more in depth. If commo by email would be better I'm OK with that, I just really need some help and all the forums don't make it seem like my ISP or MS give a crap.
THANKS for any guidance/troubleshooting anyone can help me with!

Please give us info about your network setup, ISP, etc.

Please also run IPCONFIG /ALL (in windows of course)

(start>cmd>right click and run as admin> IPCONFIG /ALL)

Please make a screenshot of the output and upload it to us here. TIA

Thanks for the reply, please find below the ipconfig results. I finally figured out the Admin part but when I ran t there were no differencesfrom the information below (still trying to figure out the interface btw my Mac, Parellels & Win 7). As a note, when I came home today my router and cable modem were not working. So, I popped in my T-Mobile rocket stick and voila, I could connect to the internet in IE, very confusing. I played around in the Parallels Desktop "preferences" and virtual machine "configuration" where I found some options for Host-Only & Sharing Network and something called "Bridge Networking". I changed some options, lost my connection again to the DNS error, rolled my computer back to a previous set point, still no connection...Went back in and set things for the Bridge Networking when my internet came back up and knock on wood I have had a connection for about 1 hour now. I think the bridge networking said my virtual will use the connection my main OS uses but it's very confusing in the internet connection page for Win because I don't actually see what network I am connected to but am trusting it is my WPA2 connection through my Airport.... I still have no idea what I did or what changed to make it work, but I still can't access my OWA email like I did the other night. It gets to that screen that says there's a problem with certificates but when I click to still go to the site I get nothing....alas, the reason I switched to Mac (aside from my silly .gov/.mil sites I need), Win & MS drive me nuts. If anyone can see anything from the below information that is important for me to know/watch for with future errors that info would be greatly appreciated!
