I loaded an accounting program on two different computers after installing Win7 with no problem under program files. I am the adminstrator too with full rights, but when I restored a back up file and try to put in under the accounting program, it says I do not have the rights. It did this on both computers, but previous XP machines, I had my file there. Any suggestions as to where to look?

If the back up is from XP that is the problem. Dont think that you can use any part of a program from XP while using it on 7. Since it is a program, reinstall in Windows 7, do not use restore.

I didn't even think about that and yes, the backup is XP. It came from my work computer that I will be loading Win7 soon on. Thanks for your help!

Simply take ownership of the file that you are trying to restore and you should be good to go..

See Brinks tutorial on this -=> Here
