Solved Do virusscanners bite each other (KPN Veilig and malwarebytes)

Hallo all,

I have a question regarding my usual virusscanner (KPN Veilig)
During a scan of my c:\drive this virusscanner comes across a virus. It signals it's there, but it isn't able to actually delete the virus.
The virus found is:

"

I have manually deleted this file, but am in doubt if this is sufficient.

I received a tip that the programm Malwarebytes may be a good programm to get rid of this virus.

Can I use 2 of these programms simultanuously?

Yes you can run MalwareBytes safely alongside any AV suite. It's probably best practice to in all honesty.

My fear was that if I run 2 virusscanners simultaneously I would end up without any.

Just run MBAM on demand (once weekly or if you suspect malware) and leave your AV running realtime.

Be sure you do not have more than one active AV products installed. They are not designed to work together and can interact in unpredictable ways.

Malwarebytes is an on demand scanner and can be used with other AV products.

To clarify...

MBAM (Free or Premium) is not and never was an anti-virus.
It is an anti-malware application.

The Free version is only a manual, on-demand scanner that can REMOVE malware that has already made it past your AV onto the system. So, it does not provide "protection" in real-time.
The Premium version provides complementary, layered protection against zero-hour and zero-day threats often missed by the anti-virus, to help PREVENT malware infection in the first place. The Premium version also offers additional features, such as an automated task scheduler, advanced settings, etc.

The warning not to run MBAM Premium with an anti-virus is simply no longer accurate for most users.
To the contrary, it is designed specifically to run in real-time alongside a robust anti-virus.
The overwhelming majority of users on nearly all systems have no problem doing so.

When the occasional issue occurs on a particular system between MBAM and a particular build of a particular anti-virus, it is typically easily solved by setting mutual exclusions, or with other assistance, either at the forum or at the help desk.
