Has Windows 7 acquired a mechanism to suppress the "Do you want to allow..." prompt for approved programs which have been installed into C:\Program Files...

How about Windows 10? My first migration self-destructed before I found out, and I'm putting off the next migration as long as possible, consistent with free update.

Hi,
Well uac = user account control is what it is and I haven't noticed any changes in 10 as far as that goes.
Usually it's mostly during installing but some like security will always prompt to approve when running or updating versions.
One of those using a administrator account verses say a standard user account deals although you'd have to enter the admin password in a standard user account verses just clicking allow in an admin account.

I get the popup every time I launch SyncBackPro - my backup application.

In the past I read an article that described a way round the UAC prompt, and that was to install the program outside the C:\Program Files... directories.

However, I'm none to keen on uninstalling/re-installing my backup program just to get rid of an irritation.

For some programs, you can get around this by creating a directory junction from the programs location in C:\Program Files... to a directory outside C:\Program Files...

This worked for me in the past, but since re-installing Windows7 I can't get this trick to work. Syncbackpro.exe complains about a DLL not being registered.

fwiw Linux is worse or at the least the same as running in a standard user account by windows standards you have to enter a password to do a lot of stuff
One annoying example is just running Linux updating
Pretty weird
But clicking yes is a minor inconvenience in windows.

Not really it took me to a M$ account login using Pale moon
ie10 it went to technet :/
That's what I meant by weird must be a Pale moon thing
It works now so so not sure what the deal was ?
