Doc never fills screen when opening

When I open a Windows doc, I always get a small doc window. I have to click the title bar to expand the doc to fill the screen or drag it open by the bottom right corner. I have to do this every time. When I do, it never remains open, always defaults to a small window when opening again. This happens only with docs not web pages.

How can I get a doc to fill my screen automatically without my having to expand it?

Thanks reasoner

Just grab it by the top frame and bump it against the top of the screen.

Open it and maximize it. Close it by clicking File>Close or close it by clicking the X while holding Ctrl + Shift keys. You might have to do it a few times to make it learn. Both have been successful for me in the past for windows that open minimized. A Guy

now if only NVidia would remember my monitor settings - my 260 card refuses to behave - I am constantly resetting the monitor settings - drag - googled a solution and found many others with same problem...
