"Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an important update that includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7."
So says Microsoft.

Does it mean that an OS which has never been updated does not need preceding updates if SP1 is now installed?

My Windows 7 has never been updated since its installation. It needs be updated for the use of a particular program. Every time update was run, it ended up with total failure.

If SP1 "includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7," then, there is no need to update if only SP1 is installed.
Is this correct?

Please correct me.

Thanks!

If you install SP1, there will be no requirement to install updates preceding the service pack, as these updates will be taken care of when SP1 has been installed.

If possible, I would advise you to download SP1 as a standalone update rather than get it through Windows Updates, as it seems to cause less problems that way.

You may also want to consider installing the Windows Updates Readiness Tool first.

Mr. Seavixen32

Thank you for helping again!
I'll certainly try it.

Does it require any prerequisites for installing SP1?
Somewhere I glanced "Before you install Service Pack 1, ...." on Microsoft websie. So, I am thinking there might be something prerequisites for installing SP1.

Thanks, Mr. Seavixen32!

Have tried and failed with this tool as hereunder:
"System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821)."
Is the one you have suggested different from the one I have tried already?

Really appreciate!

Mr. Layback Bear

The OS is a legitimate copy. And it was registered right after installation.
I wanted to keep it simple & light. And it has been operated in virtualization since its installation.
This is why it has never been updated so far.

A hunch, just a hunch that it might have been corrupted by the experiments and re-partitions I did.
I am going to re-install it. And see if PS1 can be installed as it should.

Thank you!
