Hi everyone....
I will finally be going from Win XP to Windows 7. Does Windows 7 need DVD/CD burning software like Nero or Roxio or does Windows 7 have these built in?
Windows 7 - Does Windows 7 need DVD/CD burning software?
Try DVD Author Plus. It is totally free, easy to use and works perfectly. It will burn video DVDs from any file type that will work on all DVD players. It can also backup to ISO, copy DVD to DVD and burn ISO files - Free DVD Burning Software - DVD Author Plus
Since Windows 7 first came out, the native CD/DVD burning software is all I have ever used and I have never had a problem with it, even when creating bootable disks from .iso files.

I've had issues with it, and far too many people report issues with the quality of the burned discs. Since there are plenty of free alternatives, use something much more feature-filled.
